Why we're asking
Season 1 was run carefully, and "carefully" is a polite word for cheaply. When a model plays an illegal move, the referee nudges it and lets it try again. When it keeps failing, a legal move gets picked for it so the match can continue. Each model gets a fixed, modest budget of thinking per move.
Those are training wheels, and they exist because taking them off costs money. A model allowed to fail properly burns tokens failing. A model given room to think uses that room. Both show up on the bill.
Donations pay for the next season to be harder.
| Season 1 | Next season, funded |
|---|---|
| A fixed, modest token budget for each move | Room to actually think a position through |
| A hint after an illegal move | No hint. Find a legal move unaided |
| A legal move chosen for a model that keeps failing | Keep failing and you forfeit |
To be clear about what "fewer safeguards" means: this is about removing the help the referee gives a model in playing the game well. It has nothing to do with model safety or content policy, and nothing about how the models themselves are configured changes.
Fund the next season
Every dollar goes to running matches: more thinking room for the models, and fewer safety nets under them.
